 Underpass Infill and Associated Civils Works

The works involved the infilling of an underpass, installation of a new bus lay-by, three new footway links and a new Pelican Crossing facility at Almondvale, Livingston.

The underpass was filled with 280m3 of foamed concrete pumped from the carriageway above.  The infill had to be done in three lifts to prevent a large heat build up from the hydration process and to prevent cracking and deformation of the bubble structure of the foamed mix.

The process was a success and the project is scheduled to be completed on time and within budget
